While scrolling through my saved pictures of 'people I want to draw' I found the perfect image of The Weekend. I absolutely loved the lighting in the reference photo. It originally had a yellow background but I created a very dark background to really make the colours stand out.
A couple of Christmases ago our daughter received a Switch with the game 'Just Dance' on it....the very first song she danced to was Blinding Lights by The Weekend. I'd not heard it before and I was absolutely hooked ...that 80s A-Ha style beat is just right up my street (well, that's what my very unmusical ears hear anyway!). The game has a dance avatar person type thing dancing in a dark environment flashing with pinky purple laser things...not describing this very well am I lol....but every time I hear the song, which features heavily on my play list, I think of our little lady enthusiastically dancing along with the avatar and it makes me really happy. I added a touch of dark pink and purple to my colour scheme as a nod to that very special memory.
